Seattle Police Department needed to find a way to better support their officers and reduce the effects of burn out. We helped them launch an innovative new program for all of their officers.

Officer Resilience

Challenge
Seattle Police Department was experiencing high officer burn out, turn over and transfer. They need to find a way to better support their officers.
Solution
We helped the department develop a unique training program to help their officers build mental resilience and a sense of purpose in their work. We worked with them to make sure the language, stories and visuals resonated with SPD officers.
Results
We helped train select officers to lead the sessions to encourage engagement. All of Seattle Police Departments 1,500 officers wen through the program. We helped train select officers to lead the sessions. Seattle Police was the first department in the country to roll out a program of this kind and many others have begun to follow their example.

Leveraging Brand Strategy, Story and Research.

Seattle Polices new program was a convergence of brand strategy and experience design built around cutting edge performance research. We conducted research to understand what types of programs where working across law enforcement, first responders and the military. By using a story centric approach we combined research and training with inspiring stories of officers from around the country. By equipping officers to lead the program we created a peer driven environment that allowed for greater connection, dialogue and honesty.
